Brightwave to Develop E-Learning for Thomson Holidays

Date posted: 4 July 2006

Boosting sales by improving employees' knowledge about Cities & Short breaks

Brightwave, the workplace learning specialist, is developing an interactive and immersive e-learning programme for Thomson Holidays, part of the largest tourism and services group in the world. The programme is designed to increase employees' knowledge about European city destinations that Thomson offers so that they are better able to match customers with suitable short breaks.

"The travel market is very competitive so we have to make sure that our employees are constantly kept up-to-date with the latest information about destinations to be able to offer a superior customer experience," said Katie Grocott , E-learning Consultant, for Thomson Holidays. "Because our employees are already experienced e-learning users we challenged several e-learning companies to come up with innovative suggestions that would really catch their attention. Brightwave stood out as being creative, we liked their collaborative approach and they are a good cultural fit with us."

Starting with a city game, the programme will mix a variety of interactive exercises and assessments to keep the learners' attention.

"In today's competitive retail market companies such as Thomson have to ensure that their employees are able to match the right product with the customers' needs so that they can close more sales and improve customer satisfaction," said Charles Gould, Managing Director for Brightwave.

He explains: "This can be particularly tricky when you have a predominantly young and impatient target audience that tends to switch off if the training is not interesting or directly maximises their sales opportunities. Bespoke e-learning is an excellent alternative as it offers interaction along with a rich media experience, something that most people are comfortable with today. By offering immersive e-learning solutions that take advantage of the latest technology and thinking around learning design, companies can give their staff the edge."
