When ScottishPower business units decided to supplement their classroom training with online training content, they were determined to keep their in-house subject experts at the heart of the process.
And this led ScottishPower Learning to Brightwave, whose WavePool methodology enables clients to develop their own e-learning applications.
ScottishPower discovered that, while most e-learning providers are only able to offer a fully outsourced production process, Brightwave will apply its expertise and years of experience in support of ScottishPower's own subject matter experts. The proprietary WavePool methodology allows for close collaboration. Brightwave supplies the e-learning design expertise, the development process and the authoring capability; ScottishPower author the content using subject experts, supported by their own e-learning consultants.
"We have looked carefully at what's available and Brightwave is the only company to offer a flexible way of deploying bespoke e-learning content so that the subject experts are in control," said E-learning Manager Jackie Henry.
In fact, the extent to which ScottishPower are able to control the content of new learning programmes has come as a pleasant surprise. Jackie commented, "We were impressed at the ease and flexibility with which web-based training can be developed.”
Within 18 months, ScottishPower have been able to develop over 20 courses, on subjects such as IT security, health and safety and customer service. These courses were deployed and tracked in detail using the WavePool Tracking System, a complement to corporate Learning Management Systems.
